Gardner Denver, an international leader in manufacturing air compressors, blowers and pumps for industrial and petroleum markets, has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer at
our Petroleum manufacturing facility in Quincy. 


Responsibilities include: 
Primary Functions: 

•Research & Evaluation:  Evaluates existing products for re-design based on issues raised by customers, vendors or internal team.  Assesses functions to determine whether new product would enhance existing product line or provide additional function for customers.  Collects data on products through reports, testing and customer information.  This function also conducts product benchmarking and new technology exploration/development. 
•Tools:  Utilizes computer aided engineering, analytical, and sophisticated instrumentation technology to assist in the development of company products. Maintains professional technical competence in fields of engineering science. 
•Production Processing: Coordinates activities surrounding line or range of products, following product from design through production.  Organizes activities to implement new product introductions. 
•Customer Design:  Develops project timelines and product cost comparisons, selects materials, commercial parts and technical data. 
•Design:  Designs new and/or re-designs existing product line. Produces designs, complex layouts, assemblies, detail parts drawings and generates associated bills of material. Ensures designs support cost effectiveness. 
•Testing:  Specifies product testing.  Follows up appropriately in correcting errors. Works with QA to ensure quality and ISO standards are met. 
•Patent:  May be involved in patent applications for new or existing products. 
•Quality:  Follows ISO and other global quality standards/guidelines as required regarding design and production of new/revised products. Assists manufacturing and quality departments in correcting any problems encountered in the machine shop or on the assembly floor. 
•Communications:  Provides clear, concise, and precise verbal and written communications.  Writes reports for timely, accurate, comprehensive, and graphic content of technical information. 
•Other responsibilities as assigned or required. 
Secondary Functions 
•Product Support:  Works with Customer Service, Field Service and Manufacturing personnel to resolve issues regarding both legacy and new products. 
•Warranty Information:  Works with QA to understand and communicate relevant warranty information to plant personnel and coordinates warranty reduction efforts. 
Abilities & Qualifications:                                                  
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ME and/or EE) or equivalent international degrees.  Master’s degree a plus. 
•5-7 years engineering experience along with design experience preferred 
•Proficient in software programs necessary for position. 
•Ability to interface with staff at all levels in other departments as well as customers
