I. JOB TITLE:

II. JOB SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant will assist the physician with physical examinations ant carry out nursing treatments and procedures according to Physician’s orders. The Medical Assistant must be well-versed in departmental policies and standards in order to efficiently perform assignments. The Medical Assistant must be able to maintain good public and working relationships and be familiar with community health and social services.
III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Intake – takes patient history, vital signs, symptoms and conditions and documents such in the medical record.
B. Administers patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider's instructions.
D. Administers medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
E. Checks the treatment room for properly functioning equipment and stocks supplies.
F. Travels to other Centro Del Barrio sites in carrying out duties.

H. Assists the provider in specialized examinations and treatments/procedures as directed.
I. Keeps and maintains the inventory for the supply room and assists the RN Nursing Supervisor in other duties.
J. Performs venipuncture as ordered by provider.
K. Abide by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
L. Abide by policies and procedures on hazardous materials as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual.
M. Abide by all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual.
N. Demonstrate competence with patients aged 0 and older.
O. Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
P. Performs other duties as required.
IV. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Performance will be evaluated by the RN Nurse Supervisor using the Performance Evaluation CdB Form No. 1006c (Rev. 2/94) wherein a satisfactory overall rating is considered as a minimally acceptable level of performance.
A. Education: Completion of Medical Assisting Program.
B. Experience: 6 months experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.
C. Other: Bilingual/Bicultural (preferred). Pediatric experience (preferred)
VI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
B. Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
C. Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
D. Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
E. Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally
