About the Job

Local Food Manufacturer is in need of a  Process Engineer. This individual will be working on projects related to site, facility, manufacturing assets/processes, safety, quality and productivity initiatives to achieve cost reductions, yield optimization, reliability improvements and customer solutions. A component of this position is developing layouts of facilities and designing manufacturing lines utilizing lean manufacturing. The Process Engineer will perform process flow charting and mapping, design work stations, efficiency studies etc. This position will identify and develop with the team projects consistent with capital development.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Reviews scheduled jobs in the department on a daily basis to assure we have required materials and tooling ready for production.
  • Manages production process and handles all documentation resulting from it.
  • Supervises and reviews rates on all orders to assure they are in line with expected run times and records 
  • Assures that set-up sheet instructions are clear and updated whenever changes are being made.
  • Actively encourages employee engagement and process ownership through clarifying goals, continuous communication, individual appreciation and actively listening to employee suggestions.
  • Assures Department 5S and organization are implemented and sustained.
  • Assists in troubleshooting any production process issues.
  • Sets up new jobs and prepares process instructions for new set-ups and trials.
  • Audits and assures that procedures are being followed throughout the department.  Trains leads as well as assists in the training and development of forming personnel.
  • Supports and implements quality initiatives.
  • Performs set-up improvements and scrap reduction actions.
  • Assists in Tooling and Assist improvements.
  • Responsible for improving Department OEE and $/labor hour.
  • Develops Forming Process Management Systems and Standards (SPC).
  • Follows all safety procedures to create a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Implements 5S and Lean Manufacturing (OPEX) initiatives already in place 
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.

Education / Experience  
  • Technical or Plastics Degree preferred.
  • Significant plastics set up and forming experience required.

Mathematical & Reasoning Skills  
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Able to practical problem solve and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read blueprints.  Ability to understand and implements specifications.
