Our Client is seeking a State Tax Manager in Jupiter, FL.

Earn $85,000 to $90,000 per year at this full-time, temp-to-hire position.  Work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. 

Job Description:

Prepare Sales and Use tax returns:
  • Analyze general ledger accounts, Vertex software and compute and prepare sales and use tax returns and deposits for each jurisdiction

Prepare property tax returns: 
  • Analyze general ledger and fixed asset system and prepare property tax renditions and submission of returns and payments to each jurisdiction

Prepare City / State and Franchise income tax returns in all states:
  • Analyze general ledger, Federal return and compute all book tax differences and apportionment to arrive at correct state income tax compliance amounts, return preparation, filing, and payments to each jurisdiction

Administer state tax audits from start to finish: 
  • Experience with dealing with state tax examiners and negotiating the minimum amount of adverse effect or tax

  • Minimum 5 years experience in state tax disciplines including preparation of  sales and use tax and corporate state tax returns, tax research, consulting and state compliance
  • Experience with preparing other ancillary corporate federal returns including forms 1042 and 1099
  • Experience and / or proficiency with Vertex (sales/use), PTMS (property) and Corptax
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must have a thorough understanding of multi-state tax laws
  • Must have strong detail orientation with excellent communication and organization skills
  • Must have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and State tax law
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet functionality, queries and tax programs
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Must pass an extensive background check which includes criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, plus Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
