Evoqua Water Technologies is hiring a talented and experienced Technical Sales Engineer. This position is a combination of inside/outside sales.

Our anodes/metal coating division provides a physical product that has to be custom-engineered/ designed based off customer’s needs and specifications. Your day to day is responding to customer inquiries regarding RFPs and for contacting existing customers to schedule visits, staying in touch, building relationships and keeping customer on board all while determining how to gain more market share. You’ll also identify opportunities for new business, get an audience and start a conversation. The Technical Sales Engineer will also be interacting with plant personnel to determine capabilities/logistics for custom solutions and delivery.

Manages direct and/or channel sales, as well as the successful implementation of projects to support sales activities. This position requires frequent travel and can be based anywhere in the US.

* Plans and manages the overall operation of the geographic area and/or sales channels to ensure achievement of goals and objectives.
* Identifies business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analyzing sales options.
* Sells products by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects; recommending solutions.
* Maintains relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements.
* Identifies product improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
* Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
* Leads sales initiatives to meet and exceed sales revenue, profit, and/or expense objectives for direct and/or channel sales.
* Guides brand strategy to meet or exceed objectives established for each brand.
* Guides sales efforts of sales support engineers, account representatives, and administrative personnel.
* Contributions to the growth forecasts for business unit and/or sales channels to ensure the highest level of service.
* Guides the development of strategic plans to penetrate accounts.
* Prepares and presents performance management materials as appropriate.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
* Will carry sales quota target 3-5+M)

Key Responsibilities
* Successfully defines work flows and builds relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.
* Area of responsibility is primarily tactical/operational in nature, with limited strategic impact.
* Develops and manages business plans for account growth.
* Typical responsible for innovation to continuously enhance products, methods of manufacturing and channels going to market.
* May work with manufacturing, engineering, and R&D to conceptualize, develop and / or trouble shoot new or existing products for electrochemical applications.
* Identifies resource needs and develops justification.
* Troubleshoots and resolves very complex problems.
* Responsible for overall success of function or project.
* May travel to Canada/Mexico, meeting external contacts and internal contacts in execution of responsibilities.

BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree, where required. Certification may be required in some areas. Engineering or technical degree preferred although a business degree with related sales experience of a technical product may be considered.


* Typically 8+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Experience in industries using electrochemical technologies strongly desired such as metal finishing, cathodic protection, electrowinning, onsite hypochlorite production and commodity chemical production.
* Frequent inter-organizational and external contacts.
* Strong business acumen
* Passionate/knowledgeable about chemistry
* May lead teams and sales projects.
