Lindy’s Bakery, Daybreak’s gourmet dog treat bakery and social enterprise, is looking for unique professionals with dynamic energy and demonstrated experience empowering high risk youth to achieve their optimal well-being.
Lindy’s Bakery provides paid transitional job opportunities for youth ages 16-24. The youth hired to work in Lindy’s Bakery may have personal barriers that include: homelessness, a disability, a history of behavior problems, a history of substance use, and/or other personal barriers that make it difficult for them to secure and maintain traditional employment. The overarching goal of the program is to provide these youth with a supportive work environment where they can develop the soft and hard skills necessary to secure and maintain outside employment.
Current openings include two (2) Full-Time Shift Leaders who will report to the Lindy’s Bakery Manager.
Basic Shift Responsibilities:
- Manage all bakery activities during the assigned shift.
- Ensure the smooth running of the production process.
- Ensure that all products are produced to the specified specifications.
Note: Bakery Training will be provided
Basic Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Participate in the interviewing/hiring process of youth who apply to work at Lindy’s
- Train all youth, interns and volunteers on the bakery job duties.
- Provide supervision for youth, interns, and volunteers working on shift.
- Work cooperatively with the Job Coach assigned to the shift
Additional responsibilities include the ability to work evenings and weekends (as needed), work with diverse populations, developmentally delayed youth, and youth with other mental health barriers. Successful candidates must be detail oriented, have excellent problem solving and analytical skills, be flexible, punctual, energetic, personable, and be able to create relationships with clients without breaching boundaries.
Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Rehab or related filed and/or Associates Degree with at least 3 years of experience working with this population. Previous experience in the vocational rehab field a plus.
