Position Purpose:The Registered Nurse (RN), Level 2 is a competent nurse who has been practicing a minimum of 2 years in the same clinical setting. In this role, the RN is able to provide clinically appropriate care following established protocols for an assigned group of patients. The RN is able to recognize long range goals and patterns of clinical information. He/she interacts effectively with other disciplines and demonstrates commitment to achieving unit goals. The RN is able to form a plan of care using the nursing process which helps to increase efficiency and organization. Based on these skills the RN is able to collect and interpret patient data and tailor plan of care including elements of preadmission, care coordination and discharge planning to further ensure a smooth patient transition across the continuum of care. He/she is able to participate in data collection to assist with designated Spine Institute registry. The RN is able to identify opportunities for continued professional development that correspond with career goals.
Full access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to handle, prepare, or administer medications.
Job Description Details:
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BS in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Experience: Ability to practice according to this definition: …The process of diagnosing human responses to actual or potential health problems, providing supportive and restorative care, health counseling and teaching, case finding and referral, collaborating in the implementation of the total health care regimen, and executing the medical regimen under the direction of a licensed physician, dentist or advanced practice registered nurse.
Licensure: Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Connecticut.
Certification: BLS certification required. Additional certifications, i.e., ALCS, PALS, NRP may be required for certain departments. National certification in area of specialty preferred.
Skills: Familiarity with computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), e-mail, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office. Demonstrated teamwork and communication (written and verbal) skills; demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
