Associate degree and general experience in non-medical social services, or two years post-secondary education with one-year experience in non-medical social services or equivalent experience in education/training. A Class E Driver's License may be required. The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds is required. Current certification in CPR/First Aid may be required. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups and public settings is essential. Must respect and maintain confidentiality of all aspects of client treatment
Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any "do not hire" list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services.

Employees in this position are required to apply for Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor (MAADC) credentials within 60 days. Employees are required to maintain the certifications and/or licenses possessed when hired and those gained while an employee of this agency. Any lapsed certification or license may be grounds for discipline, removal from a position, or termination of employment.
This position requires excellent communication skills and an ability to facilitate education groups for adults. This person must be able to function as a Behavioral Health Technician as needed. This job classification is covered under the agency's Exposure Control Plan. Employees in this job classification may reasonably anticipate being occupationally exposed to infectious materials. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function. This position may require overtime.
Provides the services of a Behavioral Health Technician as required or directed.
Prepares and presents in approved format, educational materials to clients.
Prepares and presents educational materials to the public.
Provides an environment for learning and discussion that is safe, supportive, respectful, and culturally sensitive.
Acquires adult education training as identified and scheduled by supervisor.
Attends one hour of face-to-face supervision on a weekly basis with assigned supervisor.
Evaluates and communicates client participation in groups to team members.
Documents client attendance, level of participation, synopsis, and summary of each group facilitated.
Observes and maintains standards in accordance with agency policy and procedure manual.0
