The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach “Beginning Ceramics: Combined Methods” during the Fall 2018 semester. This course, an introduction to the sculptural, painterly, and functional approaches to ceramics, explores techniques in wheel throwing and construction for hand-building.
The successful candidate will hold an MFA degree and have at least three years’ teaching experience at the college level, as well as knowledge of the following processes: hand-building, wheel-working, fundamentals of glaze chemistry, understanding of firing methods using both oxidation and reduction, including raku and soda. Experience with advanced knowledge of imaging on clay, including analog image-transfer techniques, silkscreen methods and digital image processing and output, a plus.
