The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of obstetrics and gynecology. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. The ideal candidate will be active clinically, preferably in obstetrics, and must be board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. The successful candidate will have leadership and administrative experience, demonstrated experience with quality and safety, medical student and residency education experience, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to service excellence.
Teaching responsibilities may include an active role in the training of medical students, residents and fellows including participation in the formal curriculum.
Clinical responsibilities may include clinical care duties as an active obstetrician and serve as or oversee the Director of Obstetrical Services at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation’s first hospital, is located at 8th and Spruce Street in the historic Society Hill district of Philadelphia. This 496-bed acute care facility provides high quality, comprehensive health care to women and serves as a major teaching hospital for the School of Medicine. The Ob/Gyn department has a premier obstetric program with 5000 deliveries annually and the region’s largest high-risk obstetrical program. The department, with over 102,000 visits per year, provides general obstetric and gynecologic care including midwifery care as well as specialty care in maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, urogynecology, and family planning. Ob/Gyn has an independent residency program of 24 residents and serves as a teaching site for the medical student Ob/Gyn clerkship and sub-specialty fellowship training.
The Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital is responsible for excellence in clinical, research and educational programs at Pennsylvania Hospital, as well as oversight for clinical research and quality and safety initiatives. The Chair will also serve as or appoint the Director of the Obstetrical Service and assume responsibility for the Penn Specialty Providers Ob/Gyn practices and provide direction and oversight of the practices, laborists and Women’s & Children’s clinic. The Chair reports jointly to the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Penn Medicine and the Chief Executive Officer of Pennsylvania Hospital.
