The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence is an intensive residential treatment program and special education school for exceptional students, located on thirty-eight acres of property in beautiful Thompson CT. The program serves 27 female and male adolescents with behavioral and mental health needs, trauma histories and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Age range is 12-20. Our program specializes in working with youth who have experienced complex trauma. Our clinical approach is grounded in a trauma informed framework called ARC. Ongoing professional development opportunities are available through our partnership with the Trauma Center at JRI. The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence is located 25 minutes south of Worcester, 40 minutes northwest of Providence, 55 minutes southwest of Boston, 50 minutes east of Hartford.
The Program Clinician provides individual psychotherapy, group and family therapy, crisis intervention and case management. In addition, clinicians develop and implement treatment plans, behavioral support plans and sensory plans. Clinicians work as part of a clinical and program team in an integrated, multi-disciplined environment alongside residential, teaching and nursing staff. Full-time, year round position.
A licensed (or license ready/2 years post-grad); master’s level clinician (LPC, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC) is preferred. Minimum of Master’s degree in Social Work, psychology or counseling from an accredited college or university is required. Recent graduates will be considered.
Minimum of one year experience in individual, group and family therapy and assessment with adolescents and experience in residential program or mental health in-patient program also preferred.
Knowledge in child and adolescent development required.
Experience and/or training in work with populations impacted by traumatic stress, mental and behavioral health challenges, and developmental disabilities preferred.
Experience in case management, systems of care, and record keeping preferred is a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
