Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. currently has an opportunity available for Construction Manager (CM) to support a construction project in Thurmont, MD.
The Construction Manager will be responsible for observing, inspecting, and documenting the work of the construction contractor for the rehabilitation of a 18,000 square foot visitor center at a facility operated by the National Park Service. The rehabilitation consists of upgrades and improvements in energy efficiency, environmental controls, and fire protection. This includes replacement of major building systems (roof, windows, and MEP) and other building systems and components that are near or beyond their anticipated life cycle (flooring, acoustic ceiling, exhibit lighting, elevator, etc.). The Construction Manager will function as the on-site representative of the project/facility owner and be required to observe, inspect, and document construction progress, quality, safety, workmanship, and conformance with contract documents and existing codes.
Skills / Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction management/site superintendent
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications; Knowledge of building codes
- Knowledge of safety regulations is required (must have a minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training)
- Experience in change order reviews, schedule reviews, and cost estimating
- Past experience with federal construction and federal contracts a plus
- Degree, professional licenses, and certifications in Engineering, Construction Management, and/or related field is preferred
