Plan and sell transportation and accommodations for travel agency customers. Determine destination, modes of transportation, travel dates, costs, and accommodations required. May assist in resolving clients' travel problems.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
Receives and prioritizes travel requests via telephone and email.
Confers with travelers to determine destination, mode of transportation, travel dates, necessary accommodations, and budget required for domestic and international business travel.
Prepares tentative plans and suitable alternatives for approval by traveler and management.
Compute cost of travel, accommodations and local transporting, using calculator, computer, or other applicable resources.
Books transportation and hotel reservations, using computerized reservation and ticketing systems and/or telephone.
Imparts international travel information to travelers, such as passport, visa, an inoculation requirements, customs regulations, and currency exchange rates.
Consults published and computer sources to analyze and evaluate commercial rates, lowest logical airfares, times, routings, and appropriate car rentals.
Ensures all reservations are reviewed with the travel arranger and thoroughly documented prior to ticketing and that VIP reservations are confirmed prior to travel.
Serves as general resource for travelers, and researches problems and resolves issues.
Adheres to client and company policies and procedures.
Assists with and performs general travel consultant duties for other departments when coverage is deemed necessary. May or may not include travel to another location.
Additionally seeks out and/or participates in ongoing training conducted through various learning environments (i.e. classroom, virtual, etc.)
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Three to five years corporate travel consultant experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in any GDS system, SABRE or Worldspan preferred.
Basic working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
Knowledge of online booking tools is preferred.
