International manufacturer is seeking a Director of Operations that can be based in the Greater Chicago area and who will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations for designated multi-site plant operations.
The Director of Operations will drive the building and reinforcement of manufacturing systems to ensure the delivery of goals in areas of safety, profitability, manufacturing KPI’s, quality, and continuous cost reductions while maintaining a positive work climate; building a culture of continuous improvement, improving capabilities to meet the ends of a changing market and building and fostering an organization that is customer focused, accountable, and flexible.
Site responsibilities may or may not include union plants. Drive a WCM culture towards improving operational excellence. Demonstrated ability to lead multi-sites operations.
Responsible for 350+ employees located at 3 plants in 3 locations (MA, IL and SC). Will lead a team of 5-8 and will have had managed product costs/P&L of $60-80 Million. Domestic travel 25-40%.
Experience in a high volume, medium to high range technical product line and industry preference include metals, abrasives, automotive, non-electrical components or similar.
Requirements and Experience
BS Engineering or manufacturing related, MBA desired. 10-15 years of manufacturing management experience, specific continuous process manufacturing experience, high volume environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and enable influence others and manage change. Driven, inquisitive, commanding, and hands-on problem-solving traits. Well versed in ISO standards and application in addition to Lean manufacturing.
Extensive background in the discrete manufacturing/production field, in addition to a thorough understanding of business (marketing, customer service, finance). WCM (Or applicable Lean and 6-Sigma) Certification preferred, with practical experience required.

*Proven record of success managing and optimizing a manufacturing organization encompassing multi or continuous shifts.
*Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in manufacturing philosophies, operations, processes and related technologies.
*Proven ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels
*Prior success operating in a highly matrixed organization. Strong bias for team work.
