About the Job
A behavioral health hospital has an opening for a Director of Nursing. Reporting to the Hospital Administrator, the Director of Nursing directs all day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department and staff to ensure the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care to adult and geriatric patients hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric problems including eating disorders and chemical dependency. Monitors the effectiveness of staff e.g., assessment, evaluation and implementation of the standards of nursing practice.
Requirements:
Bachelors Required, Master’s Degree Preferred. Nursing - 1 year required. Supervising Experience - 3 years preferred.
Five (5) years’ experience in nursing field with emphasis in psychiatric, substance abuse, or eating disorders required.
Registered Nurse in the State of Florida which is active and in good standing who has a master’s degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing or be qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill.
Holds CPR and CPI Certification.
Previous experience in nursing management e.g., Nurse Manager or other related positions required.
Displays advanced knowledge of treatment procedures and interventions common to acute psychiatric patients as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice.
Advanced knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult/geriatric psychiatric population and application of this knowledge particularly in substance abuse and eating disorder patients.
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology especially those terms associated with adult/geriatric psychiatric care through familiarity of psycho-pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with the adult/geriatric psychiatric, substance abuse and eating disorder patients.
