Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineer 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Sunnyvale, California. Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the development, manufacture, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The successful candidate will support current and future launcher programs on development and application of physics based modeling and simulation software using Matlab and C++. Candidate may also assist in the development of heat transfer performance assessment models for missile launching systems. Models will have a focus on gas dynamics, liquid injection, phase change, missile motion, and fluid-structure interaction; elements required to accurately predict system performance. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Physics or a closely related technical discipline and 2-3 years of experience.
Experience using C/C++ or Matlab for physics based applications
Proficiency with MS Office.
Strong writing skills are needed for documentation and technical exchange.
Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a security clearance.
Pursuing a Master's degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
Experience working on team-based software development projects.
