The Department of Pathology of the Cleveland Clinic is seeking a full-time Pulmonary Pathologist to join our fully subspecialized high-volume practice. The section of Pulmonary Pathology receives approximately 5,000 specimens a year. Biopsy specimens accessioned to the service include core needle and bronchoscopic biopsies, transbronchial cryobiopsies, surgical lung biopsies for interstitial lung disease, transplant transbronchial biopsies, and pleural and mediastinal biopsies. Larger specimens include surgical resections for lung cancer (and other primary and metastatic neoplasms), thymic neoplasms and mesothelioma, and explanted lungs. We also provide consultation services to pathologists around the country via a robust and growing extramural thoracic consult service. Our group works closely with several busy thoracic surgeons, a large interstitial lung disease program, and one of the busiest lung transplant programs in the country. The Cleveland Clinic is ranked third in the country for pulmonology and lung surgery by US News and World Report. Our lung pathologists are key participants in a weekly multidisciplinary interstitial lung disease conference, a weekly thoracic tumor board and a bi-weekly radiology-pathology teaching conference for pulmonary fellows. As we continue to expand our volume and outreach program, we are seeking Pulmonary Pathology fellowship-trained candidates with strong diagnostic skills and scholarly accomplishments in the field, with a desire to actively participate on a busy clinical service, engage in resident and medical school teaching, participate in multidisciplinary conferences, and contribute to clinical and/or translational research. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellent patient care are required. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
This dynamic position commands competitive salary enhanced by an attractive benefits package including medical malpractice coverage and a collegial work environment.
