The Field Technician will work in an outdoor environment on cranes, support equipment and other heavy lift material handling equipment as needed. The position will require travel within the Midwest region.
1.Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a variety of company owned and customer’s equipment.
2.Troubleshoot equipment – electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical.
3.Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment.
4.Support customers by effectively interfacing with customer and office in repairing equipment as needed.
5.Provide clear work order documentation and reports when needed.
6.Ensure compliance in all railroad, safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
7.Perform other duties as assigned.
Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent and 5 years+ relevant work experience.
Capable of reading variable schematic logic for both low / high voltage electrical and a variety of hydraulics. Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees. Requires knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical assemblies and testing experience.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
This is a production classification and employees work indoors and outdoors (in all seasons) with exposure
to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger
dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves
considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. Requires driving
to various customer locations.May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs. Need
to have the ability to ascend and descent a ladder and/or scaffolding. Up to 40% travel is to be expected in
