This is specialized technical work of more than average difficulty in the support and analysis of topology, graphic features and databases in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology. Performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects and principles of GIS. Will assist GIS Coordinator, Project Managers and/or Project Engineers. Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard GIS techniques procedures, and criteria. Researches, evaluates, recommends and implements technical and administrative solutions to achieve application objectives. GIS activities to include creating spatial features, developing databases, database management, data conversion, and performing spatial analyses. Recommends changes to GIS Coordinator and/or Engineers working on a given project. Mentors less experienced GIS personnel and offers advice and knowledge. Works closely and coordinates assignments with GIS Coordinator, Engineers and Project Managers to obtain project information and ensure GIS applications are accurate and complete. Work is performed with independent judgment under general supervision and is reviewed for accuracy, technical knowledge demonstrated and achievement of desired results in completing GIS applications. Will be required to be present in the Emergency Operations Center for the duration of all EOC Activations. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Regular Attendance and Punctuality is an essential requirement of the job.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Geographical Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering or related field; three (3) years experience in GIS software applications; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
