POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Generalist will assist the Human Resources Manager with all aspects of Human Resources administration; including: Team Member relations matters; compensation/benefits; payroll; recruitment; etc. The Human Resources Generalist champions and supports the HR programs and policies of the division as well as legislative requirements and ensures that all HR processes are followed and applied properly.
Recruitment a. Administer Internal Job Posting program b. Post to CareerNET and manage the external candidate database information c. Schedule interviews, conduct interviews (as applicable), conduct reference checks d. Assist with Orientation preparation * Assist in scheduling divisional training; maintain training database; issue course completion documents as applicable. * Assist in administration of the PeopleSoft database, ensure it is kept current, and liaison with Magna Corporate as appropriate * Maintain employee personnel files in line with company policies and government regulations; retain records in line with company record retention requirements. * Ensure Magna's Human Resources systems and policies are consistently applied based on principles of Magna's Employee's Charter, and are in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations * Assist in administration of division drug testing program and maintain statistics * Administer all Division benefit programs and serve as a resource on benefit issues * Administer Workers' Compensation program; FMLA program; and performs administrative duties related to the Employee Benefits program, such as 401K, health insurance, life insurance, temporary disability and profit sharing (EEPPP). * Prepare and conduct presentations to encourage health and education on insurance cost containment * Participate in organizing Company social events; contests; programs (incentive and rewards programs); posts and promotes Magna Perks * Assist in Total Compensation program * Administer Division performance appraisal system. * Administer uniform, safety glasses and safety shoe programs. * Provide back up to payroll processing * Promote and ensure full utilization of all communication channels so that continuous dialogue exists among all levels within the division. * Maintain high profile with employees on plant floor and be a strong advocate to ensure timely resolution of Team Member concerns and issues * Respond to routine inquiries from employees: Eg. employment verifications, benefit plan provisions, Handbook issues, job opportunities, etc,; as per company policy and legislative requirements. * Assist the HR Manager with HR projects, reports, programs, as required. * Maintain plant and office bulletin boards in up-to-date and legally compliant manner. * Handle confidential information and personnel files on a regular basis. * May record and report minutes of monthly Team Member meetings. * Perform administrative duties related to discipline process. * Assist Health, Safety, Ergonomic and Environmental Coordinator by performing routine administrative and clerical duties. * Assist other Department Managers during start-up of the division as required. * Complies with, supports and models CBAM's operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna's Employee's Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles. * Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. TS16949, ISO14001). * Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA. Follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed. * Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Conducts themselves in a professional manner. * Keeps work area clean and tidy. * Other duties as required.
Knowledge and Education
* Post-secondary education in the Human Resources field; and or equivalent HR experience * Knowledge of Human Rights, Employment Law, OSHA, Workers Compensation, etc.
Minimum 3-5 years in Human Resources role in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates clear and respectful communication skills in all situations. Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment in order to meet customer requirements Willing to work outside regular office hours when necessary to meet timeline commitments Must be able to interact effectively with other team members Able to appreciate and maintain proper level of confidentiality, using discretion and tact. Proven organizational skills and the ability to meet targets, goals, timelines, etc. Demonstrates skills to consistently achieve commitment and consensus with all stakeholders
Responsibility and Work Environment
Under the general direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist works independently and confers regularly with division, corporate, contractors, and supplier staff specialists. A valid Driver's License is required for day travel with the occasional overnight stay. A valid passport which allows the Coordinator to travel to attend customer and potential integrator/supplier meetings is necessary. Some day travel and overtime may be required to meet customer expectations. The incumbent requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and information in-process can be considered confidential. The Human Resources Generalist works in an office environment but may be exposed to some elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant.
