Growing company seeking to expand their veterinary staff for incoming project needs this month. Incumbent selected will provide care, observation and handling of laboratory animals or laboratory specimens. Will be required to follow strict guidelines pertaining to company protocols, policies, procedures, operating and maintenance instructions and manuals. Monitor and carry out veterinary instructions for proper treatment of specimens to include preparing animals for operating procedures, administering and dosing medication. Will need to maintain accurate documentation per GLP guidelines at scheduled increments according to study protocols and monitor animal recovery. Assist with providing care, feeding, cleaning and general laboratory and good housekeeping maintenance. Position will require overtime and some weekend coverage contingent on project workload.
Two years of college, technical or trade school preferred. Candidate hired must have at least two (2) years of training and experience as a veterinary or laboratory animal technician for large animals to include livestock (sheep, goats, cows, pigs as examples). Incumbent with medication administration techniques and dosing calculation experience desired. Proven competency in animal preparation and recovery, exposure to surgery and anesthesia preferred. Experience in research (including Good Laboratory Practice, USDA, AAALAC) preferred. Must have ability to lift and/or move 30-50 pounds
