This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of city landscaping.
Assists with horticulture practices related to the cultivation of flowers, shrubs, trees and turf, including pruning, planting, fertilization, integrated pest management, and irrigation.
Assists in the installation and maintenance of landscape beds.
Assists with greenhouse operations.
Assists in the implementation of an integrated pest management program.
Assists in the implementation of an annual plant nutrition program.
Assesses, operates and services irrigation systems.
Operates assigned vehicles, equipment and hand and power tools.
Assists in the preparation for festivals and special events.
Performs related duties.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related landscape maintenance duties. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance of city landscaping. Successful performance results in an attractive and well-maintained city environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
The work is performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
