What you’ll do
This position, through engineering projects, develops friction welding processes, and provides production support for the resolution of equipment, automation, tooling and process related issues.
Key Responsibilities Friction Welding:
- Develop work holding methods and tooling for the friction welding process.
- Define, consistent with corporate design and process standards, the required pre-weld component geometry.
- Establish process parameters consistent with established best practices and corporate technology standards.
- Manufacture process boundary samples and submit min/max samples for validation testing.
- Document through work instructions and training guidelines, the methods of equipment setup and operation.
Key Responsibilities Machining:
- Provide technical support for new program launch activities.
- Develop CNC programs for turning and grooving operations.
- Implement bottleneck cycle time reduction in manufacturing cells.
- Work with tooling vendors to develop new tools and improve defined manufacturing processes.
- Develop methods, tooling and techniques to reduce the time and effort involved in set up and operation of equipment.
- Implement design/process changes for optimized safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Develop engineering solutions for repetitive equipment/process failures.
- Manage capital projects including equipment specification, coordination of equipment run offs, installation of equipment.
- Review, recommend and coordinate TPM, PM proactive maintenance and predictive maintenance programs to prevent equipment failures and maximize machine uptime.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related degree.
- Five or more years of experience in high volume manufacturing environment.
- Automotive experience preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in processing and programming CNC equipment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Sound judgment, prioritization, organization and analytical skills.
- Computer Skills (MS Word, Excel, MS Project, MfgPro)
