Proactively works with senior management to refine strategies and identify, analyze and recommend acquisition, licensing, co-development and distribution opportunities. Builds and leverages internal and external relationships to stay abreast of the current industry trends and identify potential opportunities. Screen unsolicited external development opportunities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Work with Business unit groups to help guide them through the Business Development process and gain internal Sr. management approval to proceed with opportunities that support the Company’s strategic direction and will help grow the business.
Develop and support Business Development, Emerging Technologies and other relevant groups with a information and contact (who, what, when, where) database to track Zimmer contacts with other businesses. Develop proactive targeting for bolt on business, niche technology or niche products
Utilizes knowledge of competition, orthopedic market, and product potential to seek out and recommend business development opportunities.
Review unsolicited external development opportunities with the appropriate business unit.
Develops and maintains strong working relationships within Zimmer and effectively leverages those ties to get things done.
Demonstrates analytical and conceptualization skills as well as understand Zimmer’s strategic objectives to assess business opportunities and their fit with company direction.
Work with business unit finance and marketing groups to help build a business case to evaluate the opportunity.
Develop and make business “pitches” to companies with whom Zimmer is interested in developing a business relationship with.

B.S. degree, preferably including formal studies in business, MBA or work on an MBA is preferred. 7-10 years Marketing, Business Development, Finance and/or General Management experience in medical devices or healthcare. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
