Under the General Direction of the Practice Administrator and the General Supervision of the Office Manager, the Receptionist is responsible for providing secretarial duties in support of the Doctor's office staff to include, but not limited to, telephone answering, patient flow, scheduling appointments, collection of demographics, and check-out. Performs receptionist duties to maintain correct patient information, coordinates obtaining authorizations for care, and insures proper chart is pulled for physician/provider. Assists with the insurance verification and treatment authorization processes. Performs patient discharge duties including collection of any amounts due or past due from patient including co-pay, co-insurance, and deductible amounts at time of visit. Keeps the flow of communication moving throughout the office.Follows through with the patient or their physician offices on outstanding documentation needed to finalize the patient’s chart. Assists with administrative duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator, Office Manager, and Physicians.
A. High School graduate or equivalent
B. Graduate of a medical assistant / medical office specialist program preferred.
C. One year of previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
D. Knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT and ICD9 coding highly preferred.
