JOB TITLE: PRESS OPERATOR/DIE SETTER
Reports To: Production Manager
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate Single Hit and Progressive Hit Press, load coils of steel used on presses, drive forklift when needed. Assist Tool & Die in doing minor repairs on tools when needed. Record all data needed for inventory control purposes including: good parts, scrap parts and any other data necessary. Verify integrity of product visually using gauges, etc. Set specified dies in press, measure shut height and adjust ram height. Clamp dies in place. Maintain all setup sheets for dies. Do all setups and have parts approved for qualify. Store dies in designated areas. Monitor and report to supervisors any wear/damage on machines for proper preventative maintenance. Must follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout. Assist machine operators any way that will enhance the productivity of equipment.
May be called upon to assist in other duties as needed. Responsible for all customer specific requirements where applicable, including those referenced in the QMS manuals.
AUTHORITY: Have the authority to stop production and report quality problems as necessary. Report all unsafe work situations to supervisor/manager.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Provide quality parts for all machines at the direction of the Production Manager.
Authority to represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing 'ATF 1 6949 and ISO 1 4001 requirements (ex. Selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives, training, corrective & preventative actions, product design and development). Adhere to all Lorain County Automotive System Safety procedures.
RELATIONSHIPS: Associates must be able to clearly communicate with all personnel in facility including toolroom and maintenance and any other need to supervision.
WORK CONDITIONS: Entire plant facility. Must wear proper PPE-ex. safety glasses, hearing protection, face shields, etc.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. The qualified candidate must have die setting experience, good mechanical aptitude, basic math, and blueprint reading, ability to operate forklift, self-motivated, able to work well with others, possess a good attitude, and able to lift 50 pounds. At least 5 years or more experience.
