1. Prepares design documents, including plans, specifications, design calculations, budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and other contract documents for construction of engineering projects at NJ TRANSIT facilities. Coordinates design work with user groups and interested departments.
2. Prepares Board items, status reports, project budget reports, capital project funding requests, PRINTS reports, FTA quarterly reports, projects schedules, etc. for review and approval.
3. Performs bid analysis. Provides technical support regarding questions and/or submittals based on technical input from external consultants. Selects external consultants through the RFP process.
4. Reviews and approves shop drawings, product submittals, construction schedules, applications for payment, and other construction submittals. Attends construction meetings and conducts construction site inspections as necessary. Provides recommendations on design issues and field modifications. Provides oversight of contractor progress and construction methods. Reviews and approves project schedules, progress payments and construction change orders.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture or related field, from a US Department of Education accredited college or university and five years of applied progressive experience in building design utilizing AutoCAD and/or REVIT software required. Design experience with bus and rail passenger/maintenance facilities desired. Completion of a related technical training program and two years of additional applied experience or one year of closely related experience may be substituted for each year of the education requirement. Registered Architects or Professional Engineering License desirable. Excellent written and verbal skills.
