Veloxint Corporation, a dynamic Boston-area materials start-up, commercializes new nanocrystalline metals created through an MIT-developed powder metallurgy (PM) approach. Veloxint is entering an exciting growth phase, and is seeking an experienced, hands-on Product Market Manager (PMM).
The Product Market Manager will report to SVP, Marketing, but is an integral part that sits between business development, marketing, technology, and product development. In this role, the successful candidate would be responsible for understanding the market and customers, identifying potential products, supervising development and qualification of new products, generating and maintaining product requirements/specifications/ documentation, determining pricing strategy, generating and helping to ensure internal product development activities are aligned with market needs and customer expectations.
Key duties and responsibilities will evolve over time, but will include:
Define products, and update definitions based on primary and secondary market research, direct customer interactions, and internal technical development results
Identify, map and size target markets and applications, and recommend product features and ideas that address areas of highest impact and/or potential
Conduct market research and competitive landscape assessment and providing recommendations for go- to-market strategy to achieve company goals
Perform Voice of the Customer (VoC) exploration through customer calls and visits, industry events, or directly seeking out expert input in relevant markets and applications
Communicate VoCs and customer feedback broadly within the company, and help to define and drive product development/engineering activities to be responsive to VoCs
Develop and manage cost and pricing models
Determine product pricing strategy to maximize revenue and profitability
Participate in or lead customer-facing development updates and internal technical and engineering planning meetings
Act as the business relationship lead for select development activities
Own and lead all product documentation activities, including product specifications
Own the overall product launch planning matrix, coordinate sales, marketing, logistics, manufacturing and engineering activities
Support branding and marketing initiatives by creating multi-channel marketing collateral and content, managing social media, and participating in industry events and speaking engagement to raise brand awareness and equity
Participate in and contribute to company strategic planning activities Key experience and expertise required for this position include:
Strong scientific/engineering understanding and background: o Advanced technical degree with 3-5 years of relevant industrial experience, OR o B.S in a relevant technical discipline with an MBA or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to function and thrive in early-stage and start-up environments
Strong listening and communication skills
Ability to think creatively and strategically, and strong critical and analytical thinking skills to understand and solve complex challenges
Outstanding customer relationship and sales management skills
Strong negotiation and analytical skills
Detail-oriented with the inclination and capability to be hands-on as required
US Citizenship required
