Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data. A Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
Experience with HIV/AIDS surveillance or other complex surveillance systems, disease registries. Experience working with confidential data, knowledge of HIV/AIDS confidentiality rules and regulations and the protection of human subjects in research studies. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access. Working knowledge of SAS or other related statistical software. Demonstrated experience working with data quality assurance and improvement projects. Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
The incumbent will assist in various aspects of HIV/AIDS surveillance including data collection and processing, planning and implementation of changes in surveillance guidelines, data quality assurance and improvement, monitoring of timeliness and completeness of data collection, periodic reporting, and coordinating case augmentation and disambiguation activities. The incumbent will work closely with field staff, as well as assist in the development of data-driven recommendations identified from data collection, review and analysis to address surveillance-related issues. Other duties as assigned.
