The Victor School, a 12 month 216 day, private therapeutic co-ed day-school program located in Acton MA, offers a school wide integrated clinical approach in serving students with average to superior cognitive abilities between 6th – 12th grade. Our students learning are often complicated by social, emotional, or specific learning challenges. The Victor School is fully approved by DESE. The Victor School team works closely and collaboratively with families, students, and school systems to provide each student with challenging, college preparatory academics in a safe, nurturing environment.
We currently have an opening in our English department for a compassionate English teacher to teach grades 9-12, who is seeking a rewarding career in Special Education. The right candidate will bring their solid content-area knowledge and familiarity with the common core curriculum standards into the classroom. By using a flexible approach through instruction of curriculum, differentiated to the individual student needs per their IEPs, our teachers are able to teach our bright adolescents with significant mental health challenges. The right candidate would be knowledgeable of child/adolescent development and have familiarity working with large systems; capable of taking initiative and working with teams of multi-disciplinary professionals; have the ability to interact verbally and in writing in a professional manner with students, families, districts, and collaterals; have familiarity and experience with Google Classroom, and other online platforms.
- Minimum of a BA in Education or Massachusetts English certification grades 5-12
- Massachusetts DESE Certification as a Special Educator in Moderate Disabilities 5-12 preferred
- Preference given to those with dual certification or eligibility for same
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience working with emotionally challenged/ mentally ill adolescents and teenagers
- Acceptable CORI and background check
