Senior Manufacturing Engineer for sustaining and New Product Introduction (NPI) will develop and support assembly processes, production fixtures, and other electro-mechanical equipment to facilitate launch of new MKS products, and support sustaining improvement activities. Candidate will work with cross functional teams to reduce production costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency. Candidate will ensure adherence to corporate product development process (PDP) to ensure an efficient and consistent process by which new products are transitioned from development to high volume manufacturing. The successful candidate will have good communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of management.
The above will be accomplished by collaborating with cross functional teams in Wilmington and other domestic / international facilities in new product introduction throughout all development phases. The position will be responsible for ensuring optimum design for manufacturability, design for assembly, design for serviceability, and for test early in the new product development process. The role involves working with cross functional teams to develop advanced manufacturing processes and implementation.
This person must also be highly self-motivated, have an intense customer focus and be able to satisfy both internal and external customer requirements. Should have good presentation, and project management skills.
Transition complex products from Design to Manufacturing.Lead and represent the Technical Operations team in product development projects, communicate requirements and propose solutions.
Partners with design engineering and facilitates supplier value engineering in product development with strong influence in DFx (design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Service), Configure to Order and Modular designs, and product Poka Yoke (mistake proofing of products).
Support sustaining continuous improvement activities
Conduct capacity planning and analysis.
Determine and support facility layouts for effective workflow.
Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing; define and establish manufacturing methods, processes, and tools to streamline new and existing products using Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen techniques.
Direct PFMEA (process failure mode and effects analysis) studies.
Develop budgets for infrastructure and equipment with ROI analysis.
Structure product BOMs and establishes routings with associated labor standards.
Create, updates and maintains manufacturing Work and Test Instructions.
Create statements of work, and budgets for equipment procurement.
Procures and implements Assembly Tools and Fixtures.
Trains and certifies assembly operators on Manufacturing Processes.
Communicates effectively, in both oral and written form, on progress of all projects to all levels of management.
BSIE/ME/EE and/or MSIE/ME/EE with 5+ years’ experience in new product introductions ideally in electro-mechanical and/or semiconductor processing, low/medium, and high-volume mix environments
Experience with complex System and Module level electro-mechanical assembly environment.
Excellent problem-solving & troubleshooting skills. Experience with structured problem-solving techniques is desired
Experience with SPC implementation is a plus, will coordinating and conducting MSAs, Gage R and R and data analysis
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma environment
Familiarity with vacuum systems, pressure, flow measurement and control systems is desired but not required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Candidate must be computer literate in MS Windows and Office applications.
