Job Description :
Seeking a trustworthy and consistent Database Administrator to join our team. We are looking for a experienced DBA with senior-level skills and a desire to expand his or her skill set and experience across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will be able to function effectively with limited oversight. He or she should understand the importance of database integrity in terms of both efficiency and security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage, monitor, and maintain production databases in accordance with established procedures.
Monitor and analyse databases to achieve optimum performance and high availability.
Maintain proper documentation per company standards for all assigned systems and processes.
Provide support as scheduled.
Supports application development activities and other departmental projects as needed.
Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution.
Knowledgeable in using Grid Control and OEM Features.
Someone well versed in 12C version.
Team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical and communications skills.
Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing and production usage.
Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances.
Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tool that access the Oracle database.
Plans and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle database.
Implements and enforces security for all of the Oracle Databases.
Performs database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
Administers all database objects, including tables, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases, applications.
Resets the password of the users according to security requirements.
Create new database users as required.
A good knowledge of the operating systems
Excellent knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
Excellent knowledge of oracle PSU patches.
Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
Create database roles and profiles are required.
Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels.
The DBA shall provide technical services as required to support database administration functions.
The DBA shall install, configure, upgrade and maintain database software and applications. This software includes all of the licensed Oracle RDBMS (Relational Database Management System) software, tools and patches.
The DBA shall add, create, update, modify and delete database users in accordance with established procedures.
The DBA shall maintain tables of authorized users that have access to the databases.
The DBA shall create and maintain standard user profiles for adding new users, and create and maintain groups (profile of the group, members of the group) and profiles of the privileges possessed by those groups.
The DBA shall manage database security by assigning the authorized access privileges to users in accordance with established procedures.
The DBA shall monitor and maintain all the databases, including such items as disk space consumed and use of memory, and in conjunction with USG and contractor personnel, make adjustments as necessary to ensure the optimized and secure operation of the databases.
The DBA shall estimate and recommend actions to fulfil future storage requirements for the databases.
The DBA shall ensure database backups are performed on a daily basis and shall maintain a copy of all data and software on backup media in accordance with established procedures.
The DBA shall ensure the database is recovered from the most recent backup (in the event of a database failure).
The DBA shall verify the backups can be used to perform a complete restore of the database(s).
The DBA shall configure and manage database connectivity in the environment.
The DBA shall ensure all controlled elements of authorized user’ connections to remote databases are available. The DBA shall be responsible for configuring and managing software in the web environment.
The DBA shall diagnose and resolve database problems.
The DBA shall contact the users who have submitted work requests to document the problem in detail, and for recording expected results after problems are corrected. After having researched the database problems, the DBA shall inform the user how long it is estimated to fix the problem. Once the problem is fixed, the DBA shall perform tests, first to ensure the expected results occur as documented, and then assist the user to perform acceptance testing.
The DBA shall provide a response to all service and change tickets for which they are assigned. The DBA shall perform these duties for systems databases and shall work in conjunction with USG and Contractor database, systems administration, change and project management or other staff as necessary to accomplish the required task in accordance with established procedures.
