The School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts University seeks a dynamic artist working with video and/or film, and with strong grounding in the theoretical, historical, and practical aspects of lens-based practices, to teach a course titled Introduction to the Moving Image during the Fall 2018 term.
This beginner-level, three-hour studio class introduces students to the conceptual and practical aspects of the medium of the moving image through screenings, readings, discussions, practice, and critique of student work. The course covers basic production skills, such as camera operation and composition, as well as editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and special effects (green screen, compositing etc.) in Adobe After Effects.
The position includes teaching and attending occasional department and curricular planning meetings only; neither service nor research is expected. Contingent on student need, there may also be the possibility to teach an advanced Video course in spring 2019.
Candidates must have an MFA in Studio Art or an equivalent degree and college-level teaching experience, preferably at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
