Able-Bodied Seaman (TSVRON-20-1872-W):
Bowhead seeks a Able-Bodied Seaman who will support the Carrier Strike Group Four, Training Support which is responsible for coordinating, establishing, and implementing integrated requirements and policies for manning, equipping, and training fleet units, strike groups (SG), and strike forces (SF). These requirements and elements are paramount in the execution of the Fleet Response Plan (FRP), in support of and as required by U.S. Navy policy and combatant commanders.
The Able-Bodied Seaman will operate a range support vessel in direct support of the Navy off the Atlantic coast. These training support vessels range in size between 150'-250' and are homeported in Hampton Roads, VA. They will have extensive experience, knowledge, and confident skills as a vessel watch officer and navigator and be able to operate in close proximity to other craft and waterborne targets and structures.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
• Serve as helmsman and lookout.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning duties as directed by the chief mate.
• Stand navigation watch as assigned per operational requirements.

Requirements
• High School Diploma Required. Military experience Preferred.
• One plus (1+) years’ experience operating and maintaining water craft
• STCW Requirements: Able Seafarer – Deck; RFPNW; Basic Training; Survival Craft; VPDSD.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands: The work environment varies and includes, but is not limited to: dock, port, bay, waterways, coastal and open ocean environments, office space, equipment rooms, warehouse space, construction zones, and outdoor environments in all weather conditions. Work hours may fluctuate outside of normal duty hours.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
