The Division of Thoracic Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a BC/BE General Thoracic Surgeon to join the faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Thoracic Surgery Division currently consists of four faculty members with a scope of practice spanning all aspects of general thoracic surgery. The candidate should have clinical experience in the management of thoracic disease processes and have training in minimally invasive surgery and/or robotic-assisted surgery. New graduates of an ACGME accredited thoracic track program are welcomed to apply. The thoracic surgery faculty currently performs approximately 1,200 operations per year, including extensive experience in VATS lobectomy, LVRS, laparoscopy, robotic-assisted surgery, EBUS, and navigational bronchoscopy.
The ideal candidate would have a strong academic interest in basic/translational science research with the goal of applying for a K-08 mentored NIH grant. There are numerous internationally renowned basic scientists at the James Comprehensive Cancer Center who could serve as mentors. We have a full complement of NP and PA support for the clinical practice. We are committed to training house staff from our RRC fully accredited cardiothoracic fellowship and surgery residency. The Thoracic Division has established multidisciplinary programs in Thoracic and GI Oncology affiliated with the new state of the art James Comprehensive Cancer Center.
