About the Job
Accountant
As the Accountant, you’ll perform basic accounting and bookkeeping duties including preparing reports, invoices, and statements along with various accounting calculations and transactions.
Responsibilities:
Reviews, processes, and records accounting transactions such as donor invoices, vendor bills, credit card charges, and expense reports.
Routes vendor bills through automated accounts payable system, monitors approval, and ensures payment.
Reconciles accounting reports and records.
Prepares payroll grant/project cost allocation schedules and uploads to accounting system.
Prepares GAAP financial statements for single entities and assists with consolidated financial statements.
Prepares grant reports.
Assists with monitoring budget v actual expenditures.
Assists with monitoring and managing receivables.
Assists with processing payroll.
Maintains Excel accounting worksheets.
Organizes and maintains department files and documents.
Assists with external audit.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
1-3 years of Bookkeeping, financial record keeping, and/or accounting experience.
Knolewdge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of record keeping systems, bookkeeping and accounting procedures, principles, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of automated record keeping systems.
Skill in operating a ten-key calculator, personal computer, and software, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, QuickBooks, other.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to develop clear and concise written reports.
Ability to prepare books, ledgers, and files.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, vendors and contract service providers.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to organize workflow to promote efficiency and effectiveness.
Ability to pay attention to detail and perform all the intellectual and analytical requirements of the position.
