Salary range: $70,127 - $105,190 Benefits: Forterra?s benefits include ten paid holidays per year and 160 hours of paid time off (PTO) leave. The Funds have already acquired properties for community spaces, affordable housing and small businesses in Tukwila, Tacoma and South Seattle that otherwise would have been developed for profit-driven purposes. SUMMARY OF POSITION The Accounting and Finance Manager is a highly skilled accountant with expertise in real estate development accounting and processes. This position will be working with the Strong Communities Funds are relatively new at Forterra and are financially complex. The Manager, must possess a robust intellectual curiosity, unwavering commitment to high-quality work and excitement for designing and implementing new systems and processes in partnership with the real estate transactions team. The Accounting and Finance Manager supports all financial processes and reporting for the Forterra Strong Communities Funds. This includes all internal accounting processes, financial modeling and analysis and all tracking and reporting related to Fund investors and Fund investments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Job responsibilities are stated in broad terms and are not intended to be inclusive. + Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, Funds governing documents and other regulatory requirements (including Opportunity Zone requirements) + Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and review those prepared by staff accountant + Oversee and ensure timely close of books + Prepare consolidated financial reporting and related analysis for management and Board of Directors + Partner with the Forterra NW Accounting Manager to ensure related party transactions are compliant and well-documented + Track investor capital accounts, prepare and publish quarterly reporting + Partner with real estate transactions team to design and implement efficient and effective processes + Manage accounting system (currently QuickBooks) including security settings, new user set-up and period open and close + Coordinate and manage annual audits of the Funds + Engage and coordinate with external accountants to prepare limited partnership tax filings and investor tax statements + Engage with external accounting and legal experts to research and resolve technical accounting, financial and compliance issues + Build and maintain financial forecast models and other analytical tools Personnel Management + Establish and monitor staff performance; set objectives, assign accountabilities, establish priorities and conduct performance feedback + Effectively, train, mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach Supervision: This position will supervise the Staff Accountant REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS + Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university + Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, finance or related role + Experience with real estate development accounting required + Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel required + Experience with a computerized accounting system software required + Must be highly analytical and inquisitive + Must be an effective communicator, both written and verbal + Must possess initiative and a desire for continuous improvement + Must be able to perform tasks and create deliverables from general direction + Must consistently produce accurate and timely work + Must be able to analyze financial data and present the results in a clear and concise format + Must be able to work effectively with others, providing superior service to customers both inside and outside of the organization PREFERRED EXPERIENCE + Management/supervisory experience strongly preferred + CPA preferred TRAVEL, WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT This position is subject to indoor environmental conditions typical to a professional office setting.
