The Administrative Support Assistant GS 0303 06 position is located within the Surgery Specialty Care Service Line of the Minneapolis VA Health Care System; reports to the Service Line Director and supports the Chief Nurse and Administrative Officer of the Service Line thru use of technologies in performance of work. Duties in support of the Research Department, the Vascular Department, and the Specialty Care Leadership team are complex, broad and varied.

This position executes a broad and complex range of tasks to ensure efficient management of administrative functions on the Surgery Specialty Care Patient Service Line. Computer applications used in coordination of administrative tasks include graphic generation, desktop publishing programs, spreadsheets, databases, word processing and more. Work includes tasks to prepare credentialing documents, maintain calendar for the Service Line Director, coordinate meetings, compose and print meeting agendas, delivery of presentations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Administrative and technical support in hospital, research patient care environment.
* Prepare, monitor, and track credentialing and licensure of providers.
* Statistical data collection and report compilation.
* Management of digital records, research and administrative information.
* Process improvement analyses.
* Professional verbal and written communication with physicians, case managers, Chief Nurses, Service Line Directors and Executive Nurse staff.
* Calendar maintenance, coordinate meetings, rooms and materials.
* Process travel requests, CEUs, license information, literature searches, and administer surveys.
* Triage and manage calls for the service line.
* Conduct research and provide guidance from VA policies, reference standards, and VA Handbooks.

Experience may include technical support, indexing of health and research information, records management, or work with forms verification or calendar maintenance.
* **Education:** Education is not generally accepted as a substitute for the required specialized experience at the GS 06 level;however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
