What you’ll do
As an Advanced Quality Engineer for AW & eDrive you will interact with the Customer, the product development team, Program Management and the plant teams to launch new products/programs through GKN and customer required APQP activities. The AQE plans, tracks and executes all Quality related activities to achieve full Customer approvals for our new products or revisions.
To ensure the error free product launches and change management based on robust designs and stable, capable processes throughout the supply chain. Voice of Customer and strive to become the expert in Customer systems and Customer specific requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare the quality plan and organize the relevant quality & problem prevention activities.
Co-ordinate & lead the relevant quality and problem prevention activities Eg FMEA, lessons learnt, safe sample, safe launch, etc for the program and ensure critical product launch quality reviews (PLQR) are completed as planned.
Ensure all past concerns are included in FMEA’s as appropriate & mitigation actions agreed.
Verify that the product launch quality deliverables specified in the management system are completed to a high standard of execution and meet customer and stakeholder requirements.
Ensure completion & verification of all mitigation actions for past concerns by Production handover / sign off.
Complete a control plan audit of run at rate build.
Communicate and liaise with the customer on quality related issues and co-ordinate corrective actions in case of deviations.
Develop strong working relationships with customers and support contract review to ensure customer specific requirements are transferred to program team members for integration into the project plan and any gaps highlighted.
Participate in program management stage gate reviews and engage work groups (eg FMEA, DFM, DFA etc) to ensure the appropriate quality input.
Prepare, update and maintain the quality relevant documents for the program.
Regular reporting of the APQP status, including customer specific reports.)
Perform Risk analysis when required
Co-ordinate with the SQA organization and sister GKN locations to assure the relevant APQP activities are executed at the internal & external supply base.
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
3 years of experience in an automotive quality engineering environment.
2 years of experience working with General Motors as a customer within the last 2 years
Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Degree in Quality related discipline
Training in quality engineering practices.
Training in standards for quality management systems (ISO/TS 16949, VDA, EFQM etc.)
Excellent Excel skills to write queries and utilize functions to gather production data efficiently from our traceability databases, in order to run statistics or utilize the data for capability studies.
Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing and product processes.
Knowledge of customer specific systems and standards,
Application of QMS tools and techniques (APQP, FMEA, inspection planning, SPC, DOE etc.).
Very good facilitation and presentation skills.
