GROWMARK FS is headquartered in Milford, Delaware with branches in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. GROWMARK FS has about 450 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 13,000 customers. The cooperative does business in seed, agronomy, crop protection, precision agriculture, and custom application. GROWMARK FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Coordinates precision farming program and precision information management to achieve profitable business growth while maximizing customer production through environmentally responsible practices following the 4 R’s.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Supervises, leads, and develops the assigned Ag Technology Sales Specialists.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Promotes and sells Precision Farming services and products to customers and prospects directly or with Crop Specialists in assigned area.
Provides on the farm support to regional sales force on Precision Ag related products and systems.
Performs farm-gate sales calls.
Coordinates precision Ag soil testing programs, procedures and assigned personnel that move the flow of information from soil testing through Global Information Systems to Variable Rate Technology applications and beyond.
Coordinates precision farming equipment installations and service through direct contact with technicians and customers.
Markets and sells precision Ag technology equipment and software to assist producers in achieving their crop production goals.
Completes soil test results maps, recommendation maps, yield maps, boundary maps and other Precision Farming computer programs. Responsible for growing sub-field sampling acres by coaching and developing Crop Specialists in assigned territory.
Organizes information and transactions on all Precision Farming activities in assigned territory and ensures all accounts are billed for services and products that have been contracted.
Assists in the coordination of the crop scouting program, including sales and marketing activities.
Maintains knowledge of current and new technology in the Precision Farming area.
Utilizes computer maps to gather data on soil, crops, pests, and weather to determine a farm's specific agribusiness needs.
Communicates sound agronomic practices to customers, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
Conducts technology support service plans for customer equipment.
Prepares correspondence and routine reports of business transactions and expense accounts as required.
Maintains competive records for sales territory and territory analysis files on current and prospective customers.
Manages inventory of product line parts and assists locations in inventory control practices.
Promotes the use of GFS Credit programs as a selling tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit. Works with credit department in collection of accounts receivable.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Participates in grower meetings on product and technical information. Displays FS field signs to promote GFS products.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply
Performs other duties as assigned
Normally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Marketing-related discipline, or the equivalent thereof, and 2 years or more of related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of precision technology, crop production management, and precision farming programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of Geographical Information Systems, Ag Technology Products and their capabilities on farm, machinery and/or mechanics, and agronomy.
Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Proven ability to utilize computer as a communications, business management and information update tool.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable professional certifications associated with the agronomy industry.
Proven ability to work independently, in a team-oriented environment, and achieve results through others.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and have the ability to travel independently and overnight.
Must have the ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
