As an Application Engineer, you will be engaged in design, proposals, manufacturing, installation, and operation of our engineered centrifugal pumps, valves and automation products . Additionally, you will provide technical support to our customers and our outside sales force. You will be providing engineering reviews, troubleshooting assistance, product recommendations and quoting while engaging our customers with on-site training, installation assistance, failure analysis and field surveys. Bring your technical knowledge for this career opportunity at Flowserve! **Position Requirements:** **Responsibilities:** + Prepare on-time, high quality proposals for engineered centrifugal pumps, valves and automation products based on specifications, market level pricing, factory costs, and sales strategy in response to requests for quotation (RFQ’s). + Generate accurate opportunity budgets using internal and external resources and the costing method that is appropriate for the opportunity/project. + Assist the procurement department in selecting sub-vendors as well as achieving a detailed and defined sub-vendor supply scope as required by the respective project. + Select appropriate pump, valve or automation products, developing its specific scope of supply in accordance with the applicable industry standards or specifications. Coordinate technical and/or commercial issues with other departments as appropriate. + Establish and maintain close working relationships with Sales, Operations, and other functional stakeholders to promote the best interests of the company and support customer requirements and expectations. + Develop a clear understanding of life cycle cost principles and the ability to create value added proposals that differentiate Flowserve product offerings against traditional first cost approach. + Work closely with the Engineering Department when necessary to properly define an offered product including details such as performance criteria and comments to customer specifications. + Interact with company personnel, departments and others to gather, assemble, analyze and determine correct responses to customer queries, including participation in kickoff meetings. + Interface with departments and others to ensure design, costs, schedule, quality issues, shipping dates and methods to enhance customer satisfaction. + Maintain CRM data base regarding quotation activity, cost, price and quoted lead time for each opportunity. + Manage and monitor proposals throughout the entire bid cycle, from preliminary stages through contract award. + Update and maintain designated workload management tool, while ensuring proposal hit-rate is optimized. + Provide the organization with a clear crisp definition of the agreed to scope of supply from resulting purchase orders. Prepare a complete, clean Order Transfer File for the appropriate Flowserve business unit when a purchase order is awarded to the company and assist Contracts department during order processing stage with any cost impact for scope changes. + Follow all current procedures and policies related to the order acquisition process **Requirements:** + Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical preferred) or equivalent, relevant industry experience. + Problem solving mindset with mechanical aptitude. + Excellent customer service skills.
