We are the Microsoft Turing team and, as a part of Microsoft AI & Research, we are tasked with employing deep learning to power end user experiences relating to the following four areas: a. Relevance of search results on Bing.com b. Question-answering system for Bing and Cortana c. Enterprise search for SharePoint and other work-related content d. Recommendation system for news feed system As a team, we collaborate on and own projects across the entire deep learning lifecycle. This includes deep learning models for language representation, language generation, ranking, summarization, smart reply, universal representation learning, reinforcement learning, question-answering, user modeling, etc. Apart from this, we also work on large-scale distributed training, improving training performance, run-time optimized inference, and other similar aspects. The team works across most of the common modeling scheme like Transformers, RNNs, CNNs, VAEs, GANs, etc. Most of these models are targeted to serve live user traffic and hence must be optimized for serving at very tight latency constraints. We use a diverse set of hardware to serve our models including CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs. Collectively, our goal in Bing Core Relevance is to delight our users through our products and, allowing us to do so are a few core drivers: large scale machine learning, including deep learning technologies, along with analyzing, inferring and experimenting with truly big data. We are looking for motivated, results-oriented applied scientists to help drive the design and implementation of the next wave of product improvements for Bing and Microsoft. Upon joining our team, you will be working with truly big data by training and extending the capability of deep learning models to provide compelling experiences across our products. Projects can span across modeling, data engineering, model optimization, large scale experimentation, and shipment of cutting-edge technology for 100s of millions of users. Due to the wide range of project opportunities, projects are assigned based on a person's interests and background.
