West Virginia State Police/ASM3-Quality Assurance Manager/Troop 0 - South Charleston-Forensics Lab/Kanawha Co. - ***SALARY: $70,000 (Salary Commensurate with Experience) Job is posted until position is filled.*** Will exist organizationally within the Laboratory and will be responsible to the AD of the Laboratory. Responsible for the day to day management of the quality assurance program of the Laboratory, ensuring that the laboratory remains in compliance with all the requirements necessary for accreditation through the normative reference in this document. Chairs the Quality Assurance Board, coordinates agendas and document and disseminate minutes from each meeting. Will conduct annual audits of the entire Laboratory operation, will select, train and evaluate internal auditors, will prepare yearly audit reports for the Laboratory and coordinate external assessments. Make recommendations to improve the Quality system of the Laboratory and, in coordination with the AD, assess risks and opportunities with the laboratory quality system. Periodically inspect each section's long and short-term evidence storage lockers to ensure evidence is being protected from loss, destruction, and contamination. Responsible for the technical implementation and quality control of significant new technologies developed within the Laboratory. Plans, coordinates, evaluates and implements major technical programs within the Laboratory and resolve major problems (i.e., technical protocols, breakdowns of equipment, abnormal test results, and deviations from standard procedures). Investigate technical problems; and, in cooperation with Laboratory management, propose and implement remedial actions to correct the technical problems identified (i.e., incident logs, corrective action reports, etc.) Maintains rigid quality control by developing a comprehensive quality assurance program; supervises quality control reviews and studies that are designed to ensure scientific and technological accuracy of the tests and procedures. Will recommend and implement corrections and improvements in the quality system. Plans and coordinates Laboratory validation programs; confers with fellow scientists, both internal and external, exploring new topic areas, determines the superiority of certain tests or technical strategies over others. Maintain and update the quality and procedures manual and oversee revisions to section specific manuals. Administer approved proficiency tests, evaluate test results and offer feedback to participants. Responsible for maintaining the court testimony monitoring records of testifying Laboratory personnel and any required literature reading. Performs related work as required.
