FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY (FAU) – The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (http://www.cege.fau.edu) welcomes applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Transportation Engineering. Candidates with exceptional experience in sponsored research will also be considered at the Associate Professor level.
The Transportation Engineering candidate is expected to demonstrate strengths in one or more of the following areas: intelligent transportation systems, autonomous and connected vehicles, big data, artificial intelligence, cyber physical systems, transportation operations and management, travel demand modeling, multimodal transportation systems, transportation energy, freight logistics and supply chain management.
Successful applicants are expected to develop and sustain an externally funded research program and show a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. An earned doctorate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely-related field is required.
FAU has identified four research areas of excellence and strategic growth across colleges called Pillars, namely I-HeAL, I-BRAIN, I-SENSE, and FAU Harbor Branch (https://www.fau.edu/research/fau-institutes.php). Pillar resources may partially fund faculty positions in the Colleges.
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) is highly active in sponsored research focused on urban mobility/infrastructure and water resources/environmental sustainability. The Department hosts the Freight Mobility Research Institute (fmri.fau.edu), which is a TIER 1 University Transportation Center sponsored by the US Department of Transportation with focus area of supply chain, transportation and logistics research and education. The Department also houses a Transportation Research and Education Hub at the FAU Sea Tech campus.
An earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely-related field is required by time of application.
