Faculty hires will see patients with a diverse spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver disease. They will work closely with gastroenterology trainees in the outpatient GI clinic, and perform general gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures at Grady Memorial Hospital. They are required to periodically cover the inpatient consultation service with the gastroenterology fellows. Faculty hires will be required to complete administrative tasks associated w/ the delivery of patient care and, if appropriate, tasks associated with the conduct of research. Physicians with a particular interest in liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease are strongly encouraged to apply.
Weekend and weekday call will be done with assistance from a rotating Gastroenterology fellow. All faculty are expected to contribute to the scientific efforts of the division. Though investigator-initiated research is encouraged, faculty, at a minimum, are asked to help recruit study subjects by identifying and referring patients. Occasional educational talks will be given to the division and other units in the School of Medicine. Mentorship of fellows, residents, and students is encouraged. Scholarship: Faculty hires are expected to participate in clinical and translation research. Teaching: Faculty hires will contribute to the teaching mission of the division by bed-side teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Faculty hires will also speak at divisional and departmental conferences such as journal clubs, grand rounds and Digestive Diseases conferences. Occasionally, faculty hires will deliver formal lectures for medical students. Faculty hires will contribute to the Gastroenterology Fellowship by lecturing the fellows as determined by the Program Director. Service/Clinical Service: Faculty hires will deliver the outpatient and inpatient clinical services as described in job description. Faculty hires will contribute to the service mission of Emory University by serving in committees and participating to other institutional activities as determined by the Division, Director, The Chairman of Medicine and the Dean.
-Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible or board certified in Gastroenterology and hold an MD degree. Candidates must have outstanding clinical, technical and interpersonal skills and training from top-rated academic institutions and must possess a strong commitment to patient care, student and house staff education, clinical medicine and research.
