AVIATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATOR
Salary Range: $63,265.28- $105,380.60
This is advanced and responsible professional work with supervisory responsibility managing security-related programs, projects and initiatives for Miami-Dade Aviation Department. The Aviation Security Administrator researches, manages, analyzes and implements various security-related projects, intelligence data and new technology, conducts security assessments of MIA facilities and property and identifies vulnerabilities for the Assistant Director; collects data and threat information from other agencies involving measures designed to reduce terrorist threat and criminal activities focusing on insider threat trends and patterns. Assists Security Division Assistant Director to evaluate new security technology and develop procedures for the design and construction of the new Airport Operations Center as well as assisting with the implementation of recommendations made by consultants secured by MDAD to further enhance security at MIA and ensure optimal security service to MIA passengers, air carriers, tenants and law enforcement community. Analyzes federal regulations, existing security protocols and mandates, divisional policies and procedures; prepares recommendations for adjustments, and works with the Security Manager to ensure optimal security service at MIA. Negotiates and monitors federal and state funding agreements that will enhance security at MIA including applying for grants and preparing funding agreements to reimburse MDAD for police services and the installation of security technology that will benefit airport security. Identifies budgetary needs and monitors budget expenses for new and emerging technology.
Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, criminal justice or related field. Four years of experience performing research analysis in security-related projects, global security threats, or intelligence gathering procedures are required. Work experience with biometrics, screenings, debriefing, identifying patterns in the detection of insider threats and the collection of intelligence information is highly preferred.
Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification, and other such procedures as may be mandated by federal law. The security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.
