Behavioral Health Technicians(BHTs) work directly with clients, helping to ensure their health, safety and well-being. BHTs supervise, observe, monitor and record day-to-day activities of clients and advise the appropriate clinical or supervisory personnel of any medical or behavioral problems noted.
Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health gives hiring preference to applicants who achieve National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). To receive NCRC, interested applicants must contact a Missouri Career Center. This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Must be over the age of 21. Reliable judgment, good observation skills, dependability, and forthright demeanor are required. It requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. A Class E Driver's License or lawful equivalent is required at the time of hiring or can be obtained within two weeks thereof. Certification in CPR/First Aid is required or can be obtained shortly after being hired. Flexibility to perform shift work is essential, as well as the ability to accurately record and communicate diverse information. Familiarity in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office is beneficial. Certification in CPR/First Aid may be required.
Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any "do not hire" list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services.
