The County of Nevada, located in the scenic Sierra foothills, is seeking to hire licensed therapists or registered interns! The Behavioral Health Children's division will hire positions for an average of 20 hours per week - 1000 hours max in the current fiscal year.
Our Behavioral Health Therapists provide the following support to community members:
- Provide assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, collateral/parent counseling.
- Provide crisis intervention, case management, and documentation of services.
- Screening potential clients on the phone.
Services are provided in consultation with the clinical team and regional partners and outside agencies. The work is always interesting and provides opportunities for collaborative, creative problem solving. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill temporary positions along with regular, full-time positions in the Adult and Children divisions of Behavioral Health as vacancies occur or the need arises.
The ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish in addition to English would be an asset in this position, but is not required. Applicants for English/Spanish bilingual designation must take and pass a Spanish bilingual proficiency examination. Individuals who show patience, understanding, and caring in their dealings with others are highly valued. Other relevant personal traits include social skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage time effectively.

This is the entry level in the professional Behavioral Health Therapist series. Incumbents must be registered interns with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners or be eligible to accrue hours of Supervised Professional Experience (SPE), as defined by the requirements of the Board of Psychology. Incumbents are supervised for clinical hours towards licensure and will learn and perform duties of increasing complexity in assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, non-medical psychotherapy, treatment planning and case management, and professional consultation. This class is flexibly staffed with Behavioral Health Therapist II, and incumbents normally advance to the higher level after attaining the clinical hours required to be license eligible.
