The Respiratory Therapist will work in concert with Nursing and Physician staff to provide accurate admission patient data and diagnostic testing to include but not limited to: vital signs, ECGs, ABGs and Sepsis Screening, Routine and Emergency Respiratory Care interventions on all patient populations, PFT screening and continous patient monitoring, phlebotomy, personal care, cleaning the room, and stocking the supplies.

A. Demonstrates the ability to perform accurate recordings of basic vital signs including Blood Pressure, Respirations, Temperature, Pulse, Height, Weight and Pulse Oximetry.
B. Assists RN and physician with examinations, procedures and other processed related patient care.
C. Accurate Intake and Output measurement and documentation
D. Assists with and accompanies patients during admission, transfer, and discharge process.
Provides activities of daily living care; which may include toileting, feeding, bathing , pericare/foley care, oral/dental hygiene, assistance with dressing, changing bed linen, an bedside stand and other general care as needed.
E. Promptly notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain.
F. Provides general patient care such a s positioning patients, lifting and turning, assisting in use of bedpan or commode, and ambulating per treatment plan. Uses body mechanics and available resources to provide for patient and coworker safety.
G. Checks for reddened areas or skin breakdown and report to RN.
H. Protects modesty by covering and draping patients.
I. Restocks patinet care areas per department protocol.
J. Promptly corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions to RN.
K. Performs phlebotomy and capillary blood sampling per hospital policy.
L. Cleans exam rooms between patients.
Demonstrates competency in all routine Respiratory Care modalities to all patient populations to included but not limited to: Aerosol medication delivery, incentive spirometry, MDI delivery and instruction, CPT and patient assessment and oxygen therapy devices.
Demonstrates competency in ECG testing and required paperwork.
Demonstrates ability to perform arterial blood gas, capillary and venous blood sampling.
Demonstrates competency in obtaining Blood Cultures.
Demonstrates competency in iSTAT testing procedures for ABGs, Chemistries, Troponin and other lab testing i.e. Glucose testing procedures.
Demonstrates accurate charting in the electronic medical record.
Demonstrates ability to set up and maintain adult and pediatric mechanical ventilation.
Demonstrates competency in scanning and delivery of respiratory care approved medications to all patient populations
Demonstrates competency in airway management and associated intubation equipment.

Education: Graduate from an approved AMA Respiratory Care Program.
Licensure: Must hold a current Arkansas State Respirator Care License.
Experience: One year clinical experience in Critical Care.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS NRP within 2 years of employment
Other: Proficient in all respiratory care related skills, vital signs, ECGs, ABGs and other iSTAT related laboratory tests, PFT Screening, Sepsis Screening.
Preferred Education: CNA experience
Preferred Certifications: RRT
Preferred Other: Additional Languages preferred
