The Department of Preventive Medicine at Rush University Medical Center is seeking a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor to join its team as the Section Director of Biostatistics and Epidemiology.
The Department is multi-disciplinary, comprised of faculty with interests in the development, design, implementation, and analyses of behavioral clinical trials to improve chronic diseases. In the role of Section Director, the successful candidate will grow the Section of Biostatistics and Epidemiology by developing and implementing a 5-year strategic plan and will participate in weekly Section Directors meetings aimed at providing leadership and strategic vision for the entire Department. The successful candidate will also lead the Sections Data Management Center, an interdisciplinary group of PhD-level and Masters level biostatisticians, data managers, and research assistants and develop collaborative opportunities within and outside of the institution. The Department is currently in the first year of a 6-year multi-site behavioral clinical trial aimed at determining the impact of lifestyle change on 2-year remission of the metabolic syndrome. The successful candidate will lead the Research Coordinating Unit of this trial with the charge of enhancing the quality of data acquisition, maintenance, and analysis for the trial. Expertise in the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical trials is required. Experience in a data coordinating center is strongly preferred. Doctorate in biostatistics or statistics is required. Strong communication and leadership skills are required. Experience with missing data methods and multi-level modeling is a plus.
